Facelift (Rhytidectomy)

Ever wanted to remove lines and wrinkles from your face? Ever desired to have young-looking skin in order to catch up with your youthful outlook in life? A better-looking face for a better-feeling you: this is exactly what facelift can do to enhance both your physical appearance and your self confidence.

Dr. Capellan can definitely help you achieve (and maintain!) the face you’ve always wanted through his expertise in the latest facelift technology. As a professional facelift surgeon, Dr. Capellan will give you natural-looking and amazing effects.

What can facelift do to help you?

You see, facelift isn’t just a single-result surgery. Undergoing it can help you in a lot of ways! Facelift surgery can:

- Tighten your neck and facial muscles;

- Remove the sagging of your cheeks and worrisome creases under your lower eyelids; and,

- Eliminate the fatty areas under your jaw and your chin

This medical procedure mainly addresses your lower half of the face, so, anything above your eyes will not be enhanced. For problems concerning your upper face such as puffy eyelids, forehead wrinkles or a drooping brow, a combination of a facelift with a brow lift surgery can be done. Non-surgical procedures such as injectable treatments or dermal fillers can also give you natural-looking and smooth results.

It would be best if you consulted with Dr. Capellan about personalized treatments for your facial renewal.

How is facelift surgery done?

Since facelift is an outpatient surgery, it’ll only take three to four hours for it to be completely done. If you’re worried about incision scars, Dr. Capellan will make sure to hide them within your hairline so that they can’t be easily seen.

Tightening of the neck & facial muscles and repositioning of the underlying facial tissue will be done through the incisions. (In case of displaced fat, Dr. Capellan will remove them as well.) Tightening the skin and then eliminating any excess will also be done to smoothen those wrinkles and creases around the lower half of your face.

Naturally, after enhancement has been done, Dr.Capellan will complete the surgery by using stitches or sutures and applying surgical bandages – these closing devices should remain fastened and properly in place as you undergo the healing process.

How do you recover from facelift surgery?

After the medical procedure, expect feelings of swelling and tenderness in your face. You might also feel bruised for a couple of days. Even though these feelings are normal, you’ll still need to take a break of 7-10 days from work for you to have ample time for recovery.

If there is any residual facial bruising, you can cover them with makeup, temporarily. Give yourself approximately 4 weeks before you can resume doing all your normal activities, including your exercise regimen.

What are some of the risks involved in facelift surgery?

For the interest of full disclosure, here are some of the rare risks related to facelift surgery:

- Bleeding

- Blood clotting

- Infection

- Poor wound healing

- Reactions to the anesthesia

- Facial weakness and paralysis; and,

- Skin contour irregularities.

Rest assured, Dr. Capellan will do everything in his capability to ensure that you will not experience any of the aforementioned cases.

Brow Lift (Browplasty)

To completely achieve a better-looking and more attractive face, you shouldn’t just confine yourself with face lift surgery – you’ve got to try out brow lift surgery as well!

As an expert medical surgeon on brow lift surgery, Dr. Karlo Capellan will make sure that you’ll get the vibrant and youthful face that you’ve always dreamed of. Talk to him now and book an initial consultation with him. He’d be happy to assist you!

What does brow lift surgery help you with?

There are many reasons to undergo this medical procedure. Brow lift surgery:

- Puts your eyebrows in a more appropriate position so your face would seem younger and more refreshed;

- Smoothens out the deep creases and the wrinkle lines across your forehead; and,

- Removes the “frown lines” usually found between your eyebrows and across the top of your nose, so you’d always manage to look stress-free and relaxed.

How is brow lift surgery done?

It’s a basic cosmetic procedure that’s done in an outpatient basis. Brow lift surgery is an invasive procedure that takes several hours. Due to the advancement in technology, some surgeons may also offer the endoscopic approach to brow lift surgery as it’s less invasive than the traditional open surgery.

How do you recover from brow lift surgery?

Since brow lift surgery deals with the upper half of your face, expect your forehead and scalp to feel tight, tingly, swollen and a little bit bruised. Don’t worry as all these feelings will mitigate after a few weeks. Should you feel any pain or discomfort, feel free to inform Dr. Capellan about this so that he can prescribe oral pain medications for you.

Elevation of the head is a priority so that swelling would be minimized. Refrain from doing heavy lifting or other exhaustive activities until Dr. Capellan gives you clearance to do so.

What are some of the risks associated with brow lift surgery?

For the interest of full disclosure, here are some of the rare risks related to brow lift surgery:

- bleeding,

Rhinoplasty

Not everyone is satisfied with the way their nose looks like. Sometimes, people would even undergo rhinoplasty just to be able to get the perfectly shaped nose in a natural-looking way.

If you’re considering rhinoplasty, relax. It’s a common cosmetic procedure here in the Philippines so a professional expert such as Dr. Capellan can conveniently deliver this facial feature that you’ve always wanted. Talk to him now – the nose suited to your face is just a step away!

What are some of the benefits associated with rhinoplasty?

Should you ever feel that any of the following statements are applicable to you, it would do you well to consider rhinoplasty:

• You think your nose looks too large for your pretty face.

• You feel that both of your nostrils are disproportionate or abnormal in size.

• You want to remove a huge bump on the bridge of your nose.

• You believe that the tip of your nose looks like it is reversed, sagging or bulging in appearance.

Rhinoplasty isn’t just for aesthetic purposes: it can also correct a nasal deformity that can help you solve breathing problems.

*Please take note that, for your utmost safety, Dr. Capellan will only operate on patients whose noses have already ceased growing.

How is rhinoplasty usually done?

There are 2 techniques in which rhinoplasty can be performed:

• “Open” rhinoplasty

o An incision across the strip of skin that separates your nostrils will be produced.

o Then, the skin is carefully lifted from the underlying tissue.

o From here, appropriate alterations and enhancements will be made.

o In the end, closing of the incision through the use of sutures will be done. (Minor scarring may be observed.)

• “Closed” rhinoplasty

o The rhinoplasty incisions will be made within the nostrils. This is done to ensure that any scarring will be hidden from view.

o Alteration of nose cartilage and bone will be done, as discussed in your consultation with Dr. Capellan. Removal of excess cartilage, tissue and skin and reshaping of the nasal tissue are some examples of alterations that can be implemented.

o To complete the medical procedure, closing of the incision through the use of sutures will be done by Dr. Capellan. Usage of bandages or a splint may also be put into practice to guarantee a safe and speedy recovery.

How do you recover from rhinoplasty?

Feeling swollen or bruised around your facial area specifically near your eyes and cheeks after undergoing this medical surgery is normal. Expect these feelings to dissipate after a while. Should you feel any pain or discomfort, feel free to inform Dr. Capellan about this so that he can prescribe oral pain medications for you. It’s important that you rest with an elevated head to reduce swelling. Refrain from taking aspirin to prevent any complications.

Remember, in some cases, it may take up to a year for all of the swelling to go down and all the bruising to fade away. After all, a wonderful gift like a beautiful nose is a treat worth waiting for, right?

What are some of the risks involved with rhinoplasty?

For the interest of full disclosure, here are some of the rare risks related to rhinoplasty:

o Infection,

o Bleeding,

o Asymmetrical results,

o Poor wound healing,

o Permanent numbness,

o Adverse scarring and the possibility of revision surgery.

No need to worry with all these risks, though. Our resident expert, Dr. Capellan, will discuss all these comprehensively during your initial consultation with him.

Ear surgery (Otoplasty)

Want to have the confidence that comes with the knowledge that you have an amazing set of ears and a fantastic facial appearance? Well, undergoing otoplasty can give you just that. Jokes made at your expense will be a thing of the past once you have your ears enhanced to produce natural-looking and excellent results!

Look no further. Our resident expert, Dr. Capellan, can give you the treatment that you very dearly need (and deserve!)

What can otoplasty help you with?

People undergo otoplasty because of various reasons. Some of the benefits of the otoplasty procedure are:

• Enhancing the overall appearance of your ears by improving their shape, size, position and proportion;

• Correcting abnormally shaped which may be too large or too small for your face shape; and,

• Fixing minor ear deformities.

*Please take note that, for your utmost safety, Dr. Capellan will only operate on patients whose ears have already ceased growing. Commonly, children around the ages of 5 or 6 can already be candidates for the operation.

How is ear surgery usually done?

You can view otoplasty as a case-to-case surgery: generally, it can be done on an outpatient basis while sometimes, some patients may opt to be confined overnight. Naturally, anesthesia will be used during the procedure is performed.

The technique of performing ear surgery depends on the desired goal of the patient. Let’s take the example of oversized ears into context. To correct this, Dr. Capellan will make an incision located behind the ears and reform the ear cartilage to place the ears closer to the head of the patient. In some cases, removal of excess cartilage and skin can also be done to decrease the size of abnormally large ears.

Since we don’t want any scars to be noticeable, they’ll usually be placed in inconspicuous spots. To complete the surgery, the incisions are closed with temporary stitches.

How do you recover after undergoing ear surgery?

Since we’re dealing with otoplasty, your ears will feel tender, bruised and swollen. These are all normal, though.

Prioritize the elevation of your head, especially during resting, so as to minimize the swelling. Should you feel any pain or discomfort, feel free to inform Dr. Capellan about this so that he can prescribe oral pain medications for you. To facilitate a safe and speedy recover, you may be asked to wear a gauze dressing and a bandage. To prevent the ears from bending and being modified in shaped, you may also be asked to wear a skin band.

As you’re still recovering from surgery, straining and lifting of any kind is prohibited during one week after undergoing ear surgery. You can resume normal activity (and show off your pair of wonderful ears!) after one month.

Are there risks that you should know about?

Everything in life involves risks. Undergoing ear surgery is no exception.

For the interest of full disclosure, here are some of the rare risks related to rhinoplasty:

• hematoma,

• infection,

• changes in sensation,

• scarring,

• allergic reactions; and,

• the need for revision surgery.

Generally speaking, otoplasty is a relatively safe and secure surgery. Should you be interested to know more about its complications, Dr. Capellan would be willing to accommodate your concerns.

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

They say that your eyes are the mirrors to your soul.

Well, then, what does it say when these so-called mirrors are aging, old-looking and tired? Have you ever wanted to address these concerns so that you can have young-looking, refreshing and attractive eyes once again? Our resident certified plastic surgeon Dr. Karlo Capellan can help you by performing surgical operation in order to enhance the appearance of your eyelids.

What can eyelid surgery help you with?

Typically, there are two kinds of eyelid surgery: upper and lower eyelid surgery.

• Upper eyelid surgery addresses the saggy skin located in the upper eyelids.

• Lower eyelid surgery addresses the puffy skin and eye bags located below the eyes.

Should you wish to undergo both of these types, they can be performed in separate or in combination – simply voice out this concern during your initial consultation with Dr. Capellan.

How is blepharoplasty generally done?

As an outpatient procedure, blepharoplasty requires general anesthesia to provide optimal comfort:

• Upper eyelid surgery: Dr. Capellan makes incisions within the fold of your upper eyelid. This incision may extend slightly beyond the outside eye corner, but it will still follow the natural eye fold. Here, the removal of excess skin & fatty tissue and the tightening of the eyelid muscles will be done.

• Lower eyelid surgery: Dr. Capellan makes incisions just underneath the lower eyelashes or within the lower eyelid area. Here, the removal of excess skin & fatty tissue, tightening of the eyelid muscles and the redistribution of fat to reduce puffiness will be done.

As always, the incisions will be completely closed through the eyes of sutures.

How do you recover from eyelid surgery?

While you’re recovering, expect feelings of swelling and bruising and blurring of your vision as normal.

Prioritize the elevation of your head while resting. As you’re still recovering from surgery, straining and lifting of any kind is prohibited during one week after undergoing eyelid surgery. You can resume normal activity (and wear eye make-up!) after 10 days.

What are some of the risks associated with eyelid surgery?

For the interest of full disclosure, here are some of the rare risks related to eyelid surgery:

• infection,

• changes in sensation,

• scarring,

• reactions to the anesthesia,

• unsatisfactory results,

• the need for revisions; and

• hematoma.

Should you be concerned about these complications, Dr. Capellan can comprehensively discuss all of these in detail during your initial consultation with him.
